UTE Engineering Learning Centre Continues to Uplift Technical Profession

Serving with the responsibility in uplifting the technical profession in the country; UTE Engineering Learning Center has joined hands with the Sustainable School Programme with the advice of the Director Education, Western Province, Mr. Vimal Gunarathna in providing practical exposure to GCE (A/L) Engineering Technology Students of schools in the Western Province.

Building on its 70-year legacy of providing unmatched engineering solutions to the nation, United Tractor & Equipment (Pvt) Limited’s (UTE) world class Learning Centre is a testament in showcasing its commitment to innovation and expertise.

The UTE-Caterpillar state-of-the-art Training Centre provides a comprehensive technical training curriculum with modern teaching methods and facilities to mould local technicians into a more skilled, forward-looking workforce.

Additionally, the Centre, a proud recipient of the CAT five-star rating and esteemed Service Training Excellence Accreditation Award from Caterpillar for its Technician Career Development Process (TCDP) has been acknowledged as one of the best training facilities among CAT dealerships in Asia.

The facility has continuously received many accolades from a host of high profile visitors including key figures in the business world, foreign dignitaries, professionals, customers from the private and public sectors, Caterpillar representatives, personnel from other dealerships and even competitors.

During a recent visit to Sri Lanka and a tour of UTE’s large facility in Wattala, several Visitors have complimented the facility’s infrastructure.  “An excellent facility. A showcase for other Dealers,” noted David Crabb, Sales and Distribution Manager, Electric Power Division, Caterpillar (Africa, Middle East, India and Asia Pacific).

Visitors, especially foreign delegations from global Caterpillar offices have been interested in acquiring knowledge on UTE’s Technician Career Development Process (TCDP) implementation, primarily in managing the skills development of technicians when not engaged in operations.

The facility’s use of advanced technology including the Training Lab equipment’s such as the Generator Simulator Panel with the Latest EMCP 4.4 control panel, the Hydraulic Simulator Panel and its latest addition the DIEF Generator Synchronization panel drew praise and also marked interest.

Firmly committed to help grow the country’s skilled technical workforce and enhance their capabilities, the UTE Learning Center is an Accredited Training Center of Tertiary and Vocational Education commission of Sri Lanka which is the national body which regulates the vocational training in Sri Lanka and also a member of Manufacturing and Engineering Skills Sector Council (MESSCO) which sets benchmark in reforms of the sector with the industry needs.

UTE Learning Centre conducts a wide range of technical training programmes in construction machinery and power generation sector including Refresher Training, Foundational Classes, Master Classes, Educational Programmes and Corporate Programmes.
